When you set up the timing you also need to check if the cam is gripping
the crankshaft with enough force so it will not slip. Normally the
tapers will sufficiently match, however, if the cam was previously left
loose and it spun, you would need to lap the cam to the crank so it
breaks up the polished finishes to the cam and crank nose.
Also, if
you are replacing the cam, crank or you are retrofit installing a CDI,
you would want to lap the cam (or flywheel for CDI) to the crank so it
is an exact match.Sunday, 2 March 2014

Set your AV7 ignition timing
If you have a cam/clutch puller you would use the piston stop tool to
hold the piston at 1,5mm BTDC, extract the cam and set the index and
spark initiation...
If you do not have the puller handy or are out on the road, you can verify the initiation first, then verify that you have gap at index...

B.A.D.D.
Just got a bumper sticker and patch from Bikers Against Drunk Drivers.
Too many folks still fail to see the importance of being sober when they ride or drive. Please think twice and make the right choice.
